the customer’s design team on this 7 part package through accelerated
deliveries and high visibility within their organization. Our
manufacturing engineering experience aided their material selections,
reduced part costs, and ensured they would have robust tooling for their
product launch. This custom plastic injection molding project, like many
others, used our IQ, OQ, PQ validation services to prove it was ready

Plastic Injected
Mold Design: Medical adapter
Tight dimensional tolerances on a high shrinkage material
necessitated working closely with the customer’s design engineer
to assure a successful injection molded part. An inexpensive
prototype plastic injection mold was used to verify steel sizes
before making the hardened production tool for the body. The
colored threaded caps are also a high shrinkage material and have
a rubber grommet placed inside them during assembly. Our medical
device manufacturing capabilities have resulted in every part
produced throughout the life of this project being accepted. |

Custom Injection
Molding: Asthma spacer
MTS took this customer’s custom injection molding
project from prototype to production. Through this process we
worked with resin suppliers and used our own in-house expertise to
find the right impact, performance, and flow characteristics for
the main body. Once the injection molding material was
established, we refined the mold to improve the manufacturability
and dimensional repeatability requirements. Then we made
improvements to the rubber boot to speed assembly time and reduce
material usage. Product testing determined the mouthpiece cap was
too difficult to remove, and too small to ensure safe use around
small children, so this part was made larger and more
aesthetically pleasing. |

Fast Turn Injection Molding:

MTS was instrumental in bringing this work back the U.S. The
customer needed to resolve on-time delivery and scheduling issues.
They chose Micro Tech to help them accomplish the move in minimal
time and without interruption to their build schedules. They were
amazed by how quickly we had three new machines delivered,
installed, and ready for the transfer. Our preparation for the move
also included installation of a full servo automated robot to reduce
labor and ensure a competitive market. Years later they still are
convinced it was one of the best moves they ever made. |
